About Bees of Beyla

The desire to keep bees had always been there, quietly humming in the background, but it wasn’t until 2020 that the opportunity arrived. That year, Neil attended a beekeeping course with David Hanson at Bayview Bees—and from the first moment, something clicked. An obsession was born. What followed was a year spent in the company of hundreds of hives, shadowing David across his commercial apiaries, soaking up every ounce of knowledge and experience. By 2021, Neil had welcomed his first two hives. Today, the number has grown—but the passion remains as fierce and devoted as ever. Nestled among the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds, our apiaries sit in a landscape steeped in history. The Norse once walked these lands, leaving behind echoes of their mythology and reverence for nature. Among their pantheon was Beyla, a lesser-known goddess who served Freyja with mead and was closely associated with bees and barley. Her quiet symbolism—fertility, sweetness, and the sacred labour of small things—inspired the name Bees Of Beyla. Our honey is a tribute to that legacy. Bees Of Beyla is more than a honey producer. It is a celebration of place, myth, and purity. Every jar tells a story—from the wildflowers of East Yorkshire to the ancient whispers carried on the wind. It is honey with heritage, gathered with care, and offered with reverence. “We invite you to taste the land, the lore, and the love that lives in every drop.”.
